Arriving by car

Zermatt is car-free - travel by car is only possible until Täsch!

Access for private transport is only permitted up to Täsch (5 km before Zermatt). The Täsch-Zermatt street is subject to authorization and is closed to public transport. Shuttle trains run between Täsch and Zermatt every 20 minutes.

There are various parking options in Täsch - the Matterhorn Terminal offers 2,100 covered parking lots (up to 2.30 m high). From the terminal you can easily change to the shuttle train to Zermatt - more information

Arrival by train

Traveling by train to car-free Zermatt is definitely recommended. Intercity trains make it easy to get to Visp and change to the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. The trains are equipped with bike racks (usually at the end of the train).

Tips for traveling by train:

  • Arrival with a lot of luggage, no problem! You can drop off your luggage at various Swiss train stations and have it sent straight to Zermatt. Check-in of luggage at least 2 days before arrival - more information

  • Holders of a general subscription / Half-Fare travelcard or Swiss Travel Pass benefit from a 50% discount on bike passes from the Zermatt Bergbahnen - more information

The shuttle trains to Zermatt run regularly (every 20 minutes) and run every hour during the weekends during the night - so after the party on Saturday you can still get to Täsch without any problems.
